Linda Rankin is an Australian Scottish Fiddler, Teacher and Composer currently based in Braco, Perthshire, Scotland. She has been playing violin since the age of eight, studying Classical Violin alongside her lifelong passion and love, Traditional Music, specifically the Music of Scotland. It is this passion that has seen her travel, stu
Linda Rankin is an Australian Scottish Fiddler, Teacher and Composer currently based in Braco, Perthshire, Scotland. She has been playing violin since the age of eight, studying Classical Violin alongside her lifelong passion and love, Traditional Music, specifically the Music of Scotland. It is this passion that has seen her travel, study and immerse herself over the years in all things to do with Scottish Fiddle.
Linda has four albums that are her own projects and three involving other bands and musicians. You can find her latest album on Bandcamp; ‘There to Now.’
Linda is the founding Director of The Adelaide Scottish Fiddle Club www.adelaidescottishfiddleclub.com.au, and a member of Hjaltibonhoga www.hjatlibonhoga.co.uk
or Shetland Fiddlers who perform as The Fiddlers of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. She has done Tattoos in Australia, Scotland and Germany and was back this year at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Linda has been composing tunes over the last 23 years and has published her first collection of tunes called The Journey So Far Collection. Her next collection of tunes will be available soon and some can be found here to download.

Hjaltibonhoga Workshop
Linda will be teaching at the Oban Workshop for the Hjaltibonhoga Workshop series on Saturday May the 31st in Oban. Check out the Hjaltibonhoga website to register.

- 12th of July, Ceilidh with Rob Heath
- July 26th - August 26th performing as Fiddler for the Royal Military Edinburgh Tattoo
- 31st of August - 7th of September performing in Avenches, Switzerland. Representing RMET/Fiddler.

Linda is a qualified teacher with nearly 30 years teaching experience. Teaching is an integral part of Linda's professional musical journey, she love’s working with all ages to help build upon, re-enter into or begin a musical journey that hopefully can flourish and grow as a life-long one. Her skills as a teacher are to always work from
Linda is a qualified teacher with nearly 30 years teaching experience. Teaching is an integral part of Linda's professional musical journey, she love’s working with all ages to help build upon, re-enter into or begin a musical journey that hopefully can flourish and grow as a life-long one. Her skills as a teacher are to always work from her huge toolkit of skills and knowledge.
Linda has also been busy building a community in Scotland by providing Fiddle Workshops online and in person for all ages, she runs in-person Workshop Weekends the next one is being planned for May and will be in Braco in conjunction with the Blackford Fiddle Group. More information will be coming soon.
Linda is a member and Teaching Instructor for the children’s class at the Blackford Fiddle Group www.blackfordfiddlegroup.org.uk
Linda provides one- on -one lessons either at her home in Braco or via zoom. These lessons can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly or participants can opt for a block of lessons focussing on a particular skill, technique or a bunch of Traditional tunes.
